Johann has over 30 years of management development and training experience. Prior to joining CANSCOTT, Johann was responsible for ensuring that the waterfront industry in British Columbia had a competent and sufficiently qualified workforce available to service their needs. Johann also led the acquisition, contract negotiations, development, delivery and commissioning of a multimillion-dollar CRANE TRAINING SIMULATOR for the waterfront industry. Most recently, Johann was responsible for creating customized training programs for a bulk operations facility on the waterfront. This included learner materials, training plans for the trainers and a straight-forward assessment system. In this position, Johann also liaised with government agencies such as Transport Canada and the Canada Border Services Agency regarding security matters and served as principle representative for coordinating and assisting in the establishment and implementation of facility security plans.

Johann was also involved in the Industry Training Authority (ITA) as the Director of Program Development for several Red Seal Programs, such as Industrial Electrician, Bricklayer, Chef and Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician. In this regard, he worked closely with Industry Associations, Unions and Training institutions, to ensure that occupational standards accurately reflect industry needs.

Johann has extensive international experience where he marketed a full range of training services and programs to major South African companies. These services included consultation on leadership development, business renewal strategies, change management and Kepner-Tregoe management training courses in problem solving, decision making and analytical trouble shooting as well as courses on interpersonal skills, group dynamics and conflict resolution.

Johann holds a Bachelor of Arts (Public Administration) degree from the University of Pretoria as well as a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) (Industrial Psychology) from the University of Johannesburg.
